Concept:

I have designed a few costumes for singular characters and a few unrealized shows, but UW-Parkside's production of Almost Maine was my first costume design for a fully realized production.

It is clear that this play is about love in its many different forms, and the director said that she didn't want the production to be too "cutes-y."  These characters are hard-working small town people who dress practically.  A lot of the ideas that I got for certain characters were inspired by real life people.  The modern style of the show allowed costumes to be put together by utilizing our stock and finding appropriate pieces at Farm & Fleet and secondhand shops.

Our cast was made up of four performers and four understudies.  The understudies were dressed in winter gear throughout the performance and executed choreographed scene changes, while the main cast each had to perform several quick-changes throughout the show.  Because of this, costumes had to have similar elements and be able to be changes into and out of quickly, sometimes even onstage.
